ITEM OF MY LIFE BY ETHEL MAY YATES

A short passage written by Ethel May yates gives some information on her life ;

' I was born on 31st December 1892 at Brown House, Ashleyhay near Wirksworth, Derbyshire. I lived here 13 years.

My mother and father were Ernest and Elizabeth Yates.

I went to Idridgehay School and Church Sunday School.

My 3 sisters are Hilda, Ada and Jessie and brother William Ernest.

My Grandparents lived at Brailsford - the Mount. Mrs Yates, Aunt Nellie and Uncle Fred.

My other Grandparents were Mr and Mrs T Tudor of Mount Pleasant, Doveridge, near Uttoxeter Staffordshire.

When I was 13 years old we left Brown House to live at Hayes Farm, Morley. Farmhouse of 14 rooms.

I was confirmed on 10th March 1907 at Morley Church by the Bishop of Southwell - aged 15, a beautiful day, we had tea in the recreation room.'
